Mr. Trinh born 1962 in Phu Quoc and grew up in Saigon. He's a former
student of Nguyen Du highschool (1972-1979). After finishing the
second year of Computer Science at the University of Economics,
Mr. Trinh immigrated to Canada and resettled in Vancouver since
1982. He has participated in many social and cultural projects within
the local Vietnamese community since 1989. He's married to Mrs.
Nguyen, Dang Kieu Trang. Both of them are accredited court interpreters
in the province of British Columbia, Canada. Mr. Trinh is also a
certified member of the Canadian Translators and Interpreters Council
(CTIC). His contribution will be to either develop or secure an
English - Vietnamese translation software for the Tri' Viet project.
Personal thoughts:
"In 1982 I left Vietnam in my early 20, old enough to remember
the sufferings during the so-called Vietnam War and the hardship
the common people had to endure. I also remember the kindness of
many strangers I encountered during my youth, from the widow who
took me into her hut as a war orphan for 3 months until my family
could find me, to the teenager from the fishing town of Phuoc Tinh
who brought me home so his mom could feed me and give me some money
to get home after being released from detention. To me they embody
the Vietnamese spirit - the willingness to share what little one
has with another Vietnamese who has even less, without expecting
anything in return.
I hope our participation in the Tri' Viet project, yours and mine,
would contribute to the development of Vietnam. I hope by working
together in this project, we would become a circle of friends who
share not only a love for our language and culture but also a willingess
to live the Vietnamese spirit."
