This document contains instructions on how to collect email addresses for the CRCTVN's PR team.

You should have the assigned search criteria (e.g. Last Name="pham"). If you don't have an assigned search criteria, or would like to help, please contact the PR team at pr@crctvn.com.

To avoid duplication of effort among volunteers, please make sure you stay within your given search criteria when searching.

Your objective is find all emails in the world with the assigned last name.

For your references, we also provided two lists at the end of this page to help you with your search:
1. List of popular Vietnamese first names.
2. List of highly populated cities around the world.

Overview of the search method:

Search Yahoo for all emails with the assigned last name (e.g. search for Last Name=Nguyen). If the number of emails found is less than 200, then collect emails in all result pages. DONE.

If the number of emails found is 200, it means Yahoo has more than 200 of Nguyen in its database. To get most of them, we have to search for Nguyen in each of the city in the list of cities (e.g. search for Last Name=Nguyen, City=Los Angeles; then search for Last Name=Nguyen, City=New Yordk; etc.).

For each city, if the number of emails found is less than 200, then collect emails in all result pages, and move on to the next city.

If the number of emails found for a city is 200, it means there are more than 200 of Nguyen in this city. To get most of them, we have to add first name to the search criteria (e.g, search for Last Name=Nguyen, First Name=Ai, City=Los Angeles). Collect emails in all result pages. Then repeat the search with the next first name entry in the list of First names (e.g. Last Name=Nguyen, First Name=An, City=Los Angeles), so on...

Steps: For each last name

Step 1. Run Notepad to open a new text file. Save it as LastName.txt. For example, the file Nguyen.txt would contain emails of people with lastname NGUYEN.

Step 2. Goto the web site http://email.people.yahoo.com/py/psAdvSearch.py (cut and paste the web site address into your browser address field).

Enter data in the Last name only (blank out all other fields). Then submit the search.

If the search engine found less than 200 emails, then collect emails (see step XXX for instruction) on all the result pages. You are DONE for this last name.

If the search engine found 200 emails, then go to step 3.

Step 3. For each city in the list of cities (provided), perform the following steps:

Step 4. Goto the web site http://email.people.yahoo.com/py/psAdvSearch.py (cut and paste the web site address into your browser address field).

Enter data in the Last name and City fields only. Then submit the search.

If the search engine found less than 200 emails, then collect emails (see step XXX for instruction) on all the result pages. Repeat step 4 with the next city in the list of cities.

If the search engine found 200 emails, then go to step 5.

Step 5. For each first name in the list of first names, perform the following steps:

Step 6. Go to the web site http://email.people.yahoo.com/py/psAdvSearch.py (cut and paste the web site address into your browser address field).

Enter data in the Last name, First Name and City fields only. Then submit the search.

Collect emails (see step XXX for instruction) on all the result pages. Repeat step 6 with the next first name in the list of first names.

When you are done with the first name list, go back to step 3 and start with the next city name in the list of cities.

Step XXX
While inside the Yahoo page, use the left button of your mouse to highlight the block of text that contains all the emails (including all the text in between). Press <Control-C> on the keyboard to copy the selected text to the clipboard. Switch to your Notepad text file and use <Control-V> to paste the emails into this file. Please copy email addresses of Vietnamese looking names only.

When all searches are done, please email the text file to pr@crctvn.com as is (please do not edit it).
