Why is this site in English?
Ultimately the production will be in both Vietnamese and English
(Unicode); however, during the planning and construction state,
this site serves as a work-bench and English is needed to facilitate
collaboration and communication among participants who do not speak
or are not fluent in Vietnamese or who do not have the correct Vietnamese
fonts and keyboard drivers installed. However, your financial support,
participation and feedbacks will help determine the appropriate
time to have the site in both Vietnamese and English.

I received the CRCTVN Introduction
Letter, how did you get my email address?
CRCTVN members and volunteers have been collecting Vietnamese
email addresses from web sites such as Yahoo People Search, etc.

Why do Vietnamese in Vietnam need
Tri' Viet when they already have Yahoo?
One of our main objectives is to assist Vietnamese in Vietnam in
gaining knowledge on specific subject matters quickly. Yahoo was
not designed for this purpose. Rather, it is a directory. Users
have to navigate through this huge directory to find the right information.
This process is often time-consuming, and is largely dependent on
the users' level of knowledge. The result is often inconsistent.
In addition, most Vietnamese users do not have sufficient English
to quickly absorb the web site content, thus more time will be wasted
searching instead of learning. Finally, Yahoo search's results provide
fragmented information, with each piece of information scattered
on different sites. Tri' Viet on the other hand, has one "virtual
book" for each subject matter, thus allowing readers to concentrate
and learn about the complete subject matter from A to Z.

What
kind of information will be available in Tri' Viet?
Tri' Viet's database would contain only un-bias, factual and practical
educational materials in all fields. It would not contain any political
or religious information. Initially, we would concentrate our efforts
in providing the types of knowledge that are both practical, applicable
and required in Vietnam today.

Internet
access in Vietnam today?
Currently, Internet access is not readily available to most
Vietnamese living in Vietnam. However that will gradually change
for the better, in 5 to 10 years, and eventually the level of Internet
penetration in Vietnam will be almost as high as that in the West.

How
can Tri' Viet help the poor who has no Internet access?
Tri' Viet aims at improving infrastructures, health, education and
communications. From a closed perspective, Tri' Viet directly helps
people with Internet access. But when taking as broader view, the
benefits obtained from Tri' Viet will benefit everyone else living
in Vietnam. The knowledge gained by those having access to the Internet
will eventually generate into many diversified forms which will
help to improve the society, intellectually and financially. These
fundamental improvements will benefit all people, regardless of
social status.

I
found that everyone always come up with their own idea then ask
others to join. Why not to look at some existing organization and
try to join them?
There are many existing organizations out there trying to help Vietnamese
people in Vietnam. Some are offering short-term relief such as emergency
aid, visual and dental care; some are offering token of education,
etc. Some groups are self-supported, and some are sponsored by religious
or political organizations. Most of them operate on a "geographical
area" basis. All are good, but none fits our vision and goal.
CRCTVN wants to offer long-term help to as many Vietnamese people
as possible by means of knowledge transfer so that Vietnamese people
can help themselves in the long run. Tri' Viet is a global and long-term
project. For that, it allows more flexibility for any Vietnamese,
regardless of their religious or politic backgrounds, to participate.

Tri'
Viet's goal is too ambitious, is that goal achievable?
We estimate that it probably take between 3 to 5 years to create
the first workable web site and many years afterward to enrich the
content. On the surface, it sounds ambitious for its lengthy development
together with the effort of coordinating volunteers around the world,
but at close up it is not. We definitely think it's achievable for
the following reasons:
a) Technology wise there is no road block - we can build Tri' Viet
with current technologies.
b) We don't need big capital cost to build and keep Tri' Viet running
- the cost of a few PCs and high-speed Internet access cost are
very affordable.
c) There are brilliant and dedicated Vietnamese people around the
world who share the same vision with us.
Before we launched the Email Campaign (February 2002) to inform
Vietnamese about CRCTVN and the Tri' Viet project, a few of us had
doubt that it might not be the right time for projects such as Tri'
Viet. However, one month after sending out approximately 40,000
emails to Vietnamese around the world, we received tremendous encouragement
and support for Tri' Viet. The most significant indication of all
was the fact that out of those 2,500 visitors who visited CRCTVN
web site, 30 wanted to join the CRCTVN team.
We strongly believe that if we can get our messages to all Vietnamese
living abroad (more than 2,000,000) then not only we can build Tri'
Viet but also demonstrate that we, Vietnamese people on a global-scale,
can put aside our differences and come together for humanitarian
causes.

Who
can contribute to Tri' Viet Project? Any limitations?
All contributions, be it in the field of human resources, finance
or knowledge to Tri' Viet project are welcome, recognized and appreciated.

I
would like to help, but I am not fluent in Vietnamese. Is that a
problem?
Not a problem at all. The Society communicates with all members
in English, and at the personal level, member are free to choose
the language of their choices (Vietnamese or English) when communicating
with each others.

What
can I help you right now?
Help promote this project by informing your friends and relatives
of the existence of our CRCTVN Society and the Tri' Viet Project,
and seeking their support for our effort. For
more details please click here.

Any
meaning behind the name "Con Rong Chau Tien Viet Nam"?
The name serves as a reminder of who we are: Vietnamese are proud
to be Con Rong Chau Tien. We hope it also motivates Con Rong Chau
Tien outside Vietnam to help Con Rong Chau Tien inside Vietnam.

Should
"Con Rong Chau Tien" use Vietnamese instead of English?
We are very proud to be "Con Rong Chau Tien" but we are
also very practical in selecting appropriate communication means
to achieve the optimal productivity for all members at different
stages.
At this building stage, we want to focus our effort on building
the CRCTVN team and Tri' Viet project with resource and effort from
"builders" (CRCTVN members), mainly from the oversea Vietnamese
community. As we already explained in the previous question "Why
is this site in English?", for the time being it's more convenience
for the Society to communicate with its members in English. At the
personal level, member are free to choose the language of their
choices (Vietnamese or English) when communicating with each others.
At some later stages, when we start to communicate with our countrymen
in Vietnam - the "users", we will definitely use Vietnamese
in our communication.

Is
CRCTVN associated with any political organization?
No. We are a non-profit, non-denominational and non-political group.

How
do we fund Tri' Viet?
We rely purely on contributions from Vietnamese and non-Vietnamese
around the world who are driven solely by humanitarian concerns.
Contributions could be made in various forms such as ideas, knowledge,
time and efforts (administration, management, designing, programming,
collecting and organizing articles, etc
), hardware/software,
equipment and monetary.

How
are contributions to and operational expenses of Tri' Viet Project
or CRCTVN Society reported?
Full disclosure of all contributions and expenses will be made available
on the CRCTVN website on a quarterly basis.

Do
you issue financial contribution receipt for tax deduction purpose?
Unfortunately not. We will send you an acknowledgement upon receiving
your contribution instead. Our Society was formally formed in December
2001, so we are not qualified for charitable organization status
yet. We are looking into the application for the non-profit and
charitable organization status.

How
should I send in my financial contribution?
Please make you contribution to "CRCT Vietnam Society"
and mail it to
CRCT Vietnam Society
3889 Keith Street - Unit C2
Burnaby, BC, V5J 5K4
Canada
We will send you an acknowledgement upon receiving your contribution.
In addition, you could help us further by including your email address
along with your contribution. Whenever possible, we would send the
acknowledgement by email instead of regular mail, saving the Society
both in postage cost and time in preparing and sending acknowledgements.
Thank you for your consideration.

CRCTVN
is a non-profit organization, but its web address is not .ORG?
We selected CRCTVN.COM (instead of CRCTVN.ORG) mainly for its extension.
The .COM pronounces the same in English and Vietnamese. CRCTVN.COM
is a shorter and easier name to remember for everyone. The .COM
also is the default web address extension so one does not need to
say it.

I
have a few good educational articles, should I send them to you
now?
Yes, please send them to content@crctvn.com.

As
users of Tri' Viet's knowledge booster, how can we share with you
what we need to know?
Very simple. Please send us a list of topics/subject areas in
which you wish to have more information available on Tri' Viet at
content@crctvn.com. We will
do our utmost to collect and post the information as soon as possible.
